Mission Statement

To support parents, extended families, and communities in protecting their children from abuse and neglect. To recognize and strengthen Nuu-chah-nulth culture and identity. To strengthen and maintain the extended family system. To ensure the healthy growth and development of all children within Nuu-chah-nulth families and communities.

Department Objectives

To provide protective services to families living on Nuu-chah-nulth reserves by investigating reports of child abuse and neglect and ensuring the safety and support of children whom are victims of abuse and neglect.

Goals

Recognize and strengthen Nuu-chah-nulth culture and identity, and;

Strengthen and maintain the extended family system, and;

Advocate for children to have healthier families by providing support services, and;

Strive to ensure the healthy growth and development of children within the nuu-chah-nulth families and communities, and;

Advocate for families to ive healthy lifestyles ensuring family systems remain intact, and;

Develop community support systems and programs that prevent child abuse and neglect, and;

Support adopted children in maintaining their family and cultural roots.
